Advancing cyber-physical resilience in networked transportation systems
Our mission is to advance transportation systems at the interface of resilience, networks, and cyber-physical technologies. We explore the dual role of cyber-physical technologies in transportation resilience, where growing cyber-physical integration introduces new cyber vulnerabilities while also creating new capabilities for addressing physical disruptions such as natural disasters and infrastructure failures. We study transportation systems as interconnected networks, where interactions and interdependencies shape system-wide behavior and create opportunities for network-level intelligence, prediction, and decision-making. Across these research directions, we integrate interdisciplinary analytical and data-driven approaches to network analytics and decision-making under uncertainty, drawing on networked transportation systems modeling, optimization, game theory, and artificial intelligence and machine learning.
We welcome talented and motivated students and researchers interested in transportation systems engineering research at the intersection of resilience, networks, and cyber-physical technologies. Students from civil engineering, computer science, industrial engineering, and related fields are encouraged to apply. Opportunities are available for students pursuing a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or an interdisciplinary Ph.D. degree in Computer Science with Interdisciplinary Applications.
Interested applicants should email a CV and a brief statement of research interests and background to h.noruzoliaee@utrgv.edu.
